Why We Built Hindi-Medium Online Courses

28 Feb 2025·4 min read

Access to quality online education shouldn't require fluency in English. Here's our commitment to Hindi-medium learners.

When we launched eAcademe, the first courses were in English. Not because we wanted them to be, but because that is where most online education infrastructure exists. The platforms, the tools, the content — most of it assumes an English-speaking user.

This is a significant exclusion.

Who it excludes

Hindi is spoken by over 500 million people in India. A substantial proportion of Class 6 to 12 students in north and central India study in Hindi-medium schools. Their teachers are often Hindi-medium trained. Their textbooks are in Hindi. Their strongest understanding of concepts is in Hindi.

Asking these students to switch to English for online classes is not a minor adjustment. It adds a language barrier on top of every other challenge of learning something new.

What we built

HindiBodh, HindiSanchay, and HindiManthan are eAcademe SmartPrep courses specifically for Class 6, 7, and 8 Hindi students. They cover the Hindi language and literature curriculum directly — grammar, prose, poetry, comprehension, and writing skills — with teachers who teach in Hindi.

This is separate from translating English content into Hindi. These courses are designed for Hindi-medium learners from the ground up.

The larger principle

We believe quality education should not require fluency in any particular language. The knowledge is the same. The concepts do not change between languages. What changes is accessibility.

As eAcademe grows, we will add more Hindi-medium courses across subjects. If you are a Hindi-medium school looking for online learning solutions, write to us at InqIQ@teacherz.org.
